Born on June 29, 1903 in Ishpeming, Michigan, John Donaldson Voelker was an author, fisherman, lawyer, prosecuting attorney, and jurist. Voelker served as the prosecuting attorney of Marquette County, Michigan from 1935-1942 and 1945-1950; and associate justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, 1957-1960.
